Every project has a beginning.

For Nine Ladies Productions, that beginning has always been rooted in a belief that stories deserve time, care, and attention — especially the quieter ones.

We’re an award-winning, Derbyshire-based production company working across film, documentary, heritage projects, corporate films, and podcast production. Our work is shaped by place, memory, and atmosphere, and often explores stories that sit just outside the obvious or easily explained.

This website is a space to share what we’re making, how we work, and why we’re drawn to the projects we take on.

Alongside commissioned work, we continue to develop and produce original films. We’re currently in production on our second feature film, The Search for Gillian Gold, an independent mystery rooted in landscape, absence, and the idea of what happens when records — and people — are quietly left behind.

Through this blog, we’ll be sharing updates on current projects, behind-the-scenes insights, reflections on filmmaking and podcast production, and occasional notes on heritage work and research-led storytelling. It’s not intended as a constant feed, but as a record — a place to log progress, ideas, and moments from the process.
